Here in Summerville, Georgia, we're blessed with some of the Southeast's most beautiful outdoor recreation opportunities - from the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains to historic train rides through Chattooga County. And soon, we'll have something we've never had before: our very own craft brewery to complete the perfect adventure day.

Summerville sits at the heart of northwest Georgia's outdoor paradise. Whether you're hiking the Appalachian foothills, mountain biking through state parks, or taking a scenic ride aboard the historic Engine 4501, our little town has quietly become a destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The problem? After a long day exploring, there was nowhere to gather, share stories, and celebrate those adventures with a locally crafted beer.

That's about to change.

As Summerville's first and only brewery - and the only craft brewery within 50 miles - Chattooga Brewing Company is bringing together two things our community has been missing: exceptional craft beer and a true gathering place for adventurers, locals, and visitors alike.

Our flagship 4501 Lager isn't just named after any train - it honors the legendary locomotive that still brings visitors to our historic downtown. Light-bodied and refreshingly straightforward, it's the perfect reward after conquering mountain trails or exploring local attractions. Think of it as your post-adventure celebration in a can.

Here's what's happening right now that has us incredibly excited:

🍺 Production Update: Our 4501 Lager is in its final stages and almost ready for packaging! We've been working with our contract brewing partner to perfect every detail, and the wait is almost over.

🚰 Tap Handles Ready: The tap handles are in and ready to go! Our distributor has them on hand, so once production wraps up, we'll have a smooth launch. 🏢 A Building with Stories: Thanks to the Chattooga Historical Society, we've discovered some incredible old photos of our future brewery location when it was a car dealership in the 1940s and 50s. The transformation from selling cars to crafting community is going to be something truly special. This building has been serving our community for decades, and we're honored to write its next chapter.

While we're starting with contract brewing to get 4501 Lager into local hands, our vision is much bigger. Come September 2026, we'll open our full brewery and taproom in downtown Summerville - a true "third space" where outdoor adventurers can swap trail stories, locals can catch up with neighbors, and visitors can discover what makes our community special.
